Children Are Important To Us!

At Eastminster Presbyterian Church, during the sacrament of baptism, our church community joins with parents in making a pledge to raise our children in the knowledge and love of God. We promise to share with them the Good News of Jesus Christ and to teach them God’s Holy Word found on the pages of the Bible. As a congregation we take this pledge seriously and keep our promises by surrounding children with love and offering various programs throughout the year that encourage their spiritual development.

Our strongest program for teaching is our weekly Sunday School that begins at 9 a.m. each Sunday morning. We believe Sunday School makes a BIG difference in the life of a child by providing for them a strong foundation of faith and hope for their lives! Our children’s Sunday School program is offered for children age 2 through 5th grade.

This year our children will be studying the opening Books of Scripture and then move to the birth and early ministry of Jesus! Our 2-3 year olds will be learning from the stories of Genesis what it means to be part of the family of God. They will also be learning how God uses our families to care for us and help keep us safe. They will learn God cares for us in many ways and how to express their thanks to God for His goodness.

Pre-K through Kindergarten age children will be learning the stories of Genesis by studying creation and the lessons that can be learned from the lives of Noah and Abraham and Sarah. They will learn how they are created in God’s image and given special and unique talents and gifts. They will learn the importance of obedience and to trust in God. They will learn how Jesus is God’s greatest gift to us. They will study the love and help that Jesus has for them.

Our first and second graders will be learning the stories of faith as they study the lives of Abraham, Isaac and Abimelech, Jacob and Esau, Samson, Hannah and Samuel. They will focus on what they can learn about prayer through the lives of these individuals. Then they will learn about the life of Jesus, his miracles and the impact he had on the lives of others.

Our third through fifth graders will be learn lessons that are an overview of the Bible, learning how to use their Bibles by learning the Books of the Bible, the locations of these books and how to apply the knowledge they contain to their daily lives. They will cover the full scope of the Bible with emphasis on the lessons of the New Testament. Sunday School makes a difference in the lives of children —we want every child in Sunday School each Sunday!
